The announced dates, price and specs
Apple's first foldable iPhone now has a launch date in Mexico. The September 9 announcement sets its arrival for October 23, 2026, with preorders from the 16th and a starting price of MXN $47,999. Mexico is among the launch markets; availability at individual stores needs to be checked separately.
According to Apple, the Duo combines a 5.4-inch outer screen with a 7.6-inch inner one. It will come in 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB versions, and ship with iOS 27.1. These are specifications announced by the manufacturer, not the results of independent testing.
What would you do with a bigger screen?
The design promises a phone that opens into a larger workspace. To assess that promise, think of a specific task: comparing documents, reviewing photographs or checking notes during a video call. If the second screen simply shows the same thing at a larger size, the benefit may not justify the price.
Before buying, try a sequence you actually use: open an app, find something, write a reply and put the phone away. An impressive demo is not enough. Its weight in your hand, how comfortable the keyboard is and how much space it takes up in your pocket matter as much as the specifications.
Questions worth another trip to the store
The remaining questions are practical: how the screens are repaired, what coverage the seller offers and how much repairs would cost after an accident. Also check which features are available in Mexico and in Spanish, since Apple notes that availability differs by region and language.
It helps to separate a real need from perfectly reasonable curiosity. If your current problem is a worn-out battery, switching to a foldable is not the only answer. If you work every day with information that feels cramped on a conventional screen, you have a concrete reason to try it. Waiting for reviews and user feedback does not make the new design less valuable; it helps you decide whether it is valuable to you.
