In brief
- The exhibition opened on October 15 and ends on October 25 in Seoul.
- The new photos were published on October 21.
- The exhibition’s frames are not advertised as accessories for sale in Mexico.
When the frame becomes part of the artwork
On October 21, Samsung published new photos of Design is an Act of Love, an exhibition that opened on October 15 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. The show runs until October 25 and brings together 14 works inspired by the brand’s products, created with POLI.design and teams of Italian artists.
Each work appears on the same model of OLED TV, but with a frame designed to complement its colors and character. The display invites an unusual comparison for a tech showcase: how does our relationship with a screen change when its frame is part of the artwork?
Familiar products, different interpretations
The works shown include Lila Carugati’s interpretation of the Galaxy Z Fold8 and UNOLAB’s take on Music Studio 5. Tommy Tokyo’s air-purifier-inspired piece draws on the idea of clean air. These are artistic interpretations of existing products, not photos of upcoming devices or previews of their features.
The original announcement says the artists also used artificial intelligence tools to develop their ideas. The photo accompanying this article shows the actual exhibition space. It is not an En Foco recreation or a demonstration of how any of those devices work.
Design ideas, not products to order
For anyone surrounded by screens, the exhibition raises an interesting question: does a device have to look the same in every home? It explores the answer through materials, frames and images, without needing a different screen for each design.
The exhibition is in South Korea. The announcements we reviewed do not offer these frames for sale as accessories in Mexico or announce a Mexican tour. Think of the works as ideas about personalization and expression, not a catalog you can order from.
