A quicker way to find something to watch
You open YouTube for a cooking tutorial and end up scrolling through unrelated videos. The platform is offering another starting point: describe what interests you and save a space with recommendations on that subject. It announced the rollout on October 22.
You create these custom feeds through the plus sign on Home. Describe an activity or topic, then edit the text if the suggestions are not quite right. These are recommendation spaces, not playlists of videos you have picked individually.
Not available in Mexico yet
The rollout is limited to the United States and English. You need to sign in and enable watch and search history. The official help page also says tablets are not supported. No launch date has been announced for Mexico.
Viewers without Premium can keep three feeds, while Premium members can keep eight. Feeds sync between a phone and a computer using the same account. A Premium subscription is therefore not required to try the feature once an account and region are eligible.
Two things worth knowing
Custom feeds are private, but the videos you watch in them can still influence your general recommendations. Their prompts also expire after 30 days without activity.
If the new button is missing, that does not automatically mean your app is broken. Region, language and the rollout itself all matter. For now, viewers elsewhere will need to wait for YouTube to announce wider availability.
