From a draft to direct revision
On October 29, 2026, Google announced that Gemini can create, preview and edit files without leaving the conversation. You can work full-screen or select a section and request a change instead of regenerating the entire document.
Your device matters
PDF editing and previews are available on web and mobile; other document, spreadsheet and presentation formats are handled on the web. The announcement covers personal accounts and Workspace customers, where organizational access conditions also apply.
Treat it as a draft, not an approval
An everyday example would be preparing a meeting agenda and revising only the agreed actions before sharing it. Start with information you are allowed to use in that service; do not upload records or personal data merely to test the feature.
