In brief
- Scheduled Release starts October 27; that does not mean everyone has it earlier.
- Deleting the card does not delete the original Drive notes.
Less searching after the call
On October 19, 2026, Google announced meeting recap cards in Chat. They bring together discussion points, decisions and tasks, with links to available materials such as notes, recordings or transcripts.
The everyday benefit for a team is straightforward: finish the call and have a starting point for what comes next. Still, a card does not replace checking an agreement when a task, owner or deadline was unclear.
Two conditions worth checking
The feature requires Gemini note-taking in Meet and a chat associated with the meeting. If notes are shared only with hosts and cohosts, a card is not posted to the group.
A link should not be treated as a new permission to open a file, either. Before forwarding material to another team, check who can access it. Appearing in a conversation does not make a document public.
Rollout dates and eligible accounts
Rapid Release began October 16; Scheduled Release is planned from October 27. Both are gradual rollouts lasting up to 15 days. Google lists Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and Frontline Plus—not general availability for free accounts.
The card arrives without marking the chat unread or triggering a new-message notification. According to the announcement, any participant can remove it from the conversation, but that does not delete the original notes in Drive. Cleaning up the chat and deleting its documents are different actions.
