In brief

  • 26.11.70 is a test build for the upcoming 26.12 release.
  • Keep the original and save tests under a different name.

A testing invitation, not a stable release

On October 16, 2026, the Kdenlive team invited users to test changes being prepared for version 26.12. Development build 26.11.70 lets testers check title-editor changes and the way file paths are saved.

This is not a stable update recommendation for someone delivering a video today. Experimenting directly on a deadline-sensitive project adds avoidable risk.

Why relative paths matter

The change aims to store relative paths when media is in the project’s folder or its subfolders. In practical terms, moving the whole folder can be less fragile than relying on a location specific to one computer.

Imagine a family video project with its clips, music and project file together in one folder. Moving that complete set is the useful case—not expecting the editor to magically find files left scattered on another drive. The developers specifically want testers to check moves and reopen projects.

Test without risking the original

The testing call also covers multiple font styles within one title block. It asks users to check titles from older projects, their positioning and rendered output. These are compatibility checks, not a promise that every old project will look identical.

The team instructs testers to save under a different name, reopen and check the result. Test builds are offered for Linux and Windows, along with the development Flatpak, and the team recommends reinstalling the stable version afterward. If experimental software is not for you, wait for the stable release.
