In brief

  • In Mexico, the Spanish-language rollout began on October 15.
  • You need Premium, must be over 18 and must have the feature enabled on your account.
  • You can share your score, but the announcement does not describe a multiplayer mode.

“I know it from the first note”

Some songs you recognize before the vocals even start. Others leave you humming, convinced the title is about to come to you. Spotify’s new feature turns that familiar challenge into a game.

Music Quiz combines song snippets, gradually revealed album artwork and questions about artists. When you finish, you can check your score and share it with friends. It does not have to be a competition: you can also use it to see how much you remember about a singer you have listened to for years.

The Spanish-language rollout in Mexico began on October 15, according to an update to the official announcement. It did not launch today, and it is not yet available on every account.

Where to look, and why it might not appear

Update the app, play a song by a participating artist and scroll down the Now Playing screen to look for the Music Quiz card. If it appears, tap it to begin.

The feature is for Spotify Premium users over 18. It is rolling out gradually, and not every artist has a quiz. If you cannot find the card yet, you may not be looking in the wrong place: the feature may simply not be available to you yet.

The appeal is simple: paying closer attention to your music for a few minutes. Getting an answer right feels good; getting one wrong can give you an excuse to play that song again. Sharing the result can move the conversation beyond the usual “what are you listening to?”
