Fixes for everyday tasks
Thunderbird 159.0, released on October 27, fixes problems with Save All and Detach All for attachments with invalid filename paths and forwarding MP4 files. It also addresses a bug that could print multiple messages even after the print dialog was canceled.
Calendars and notifications
This release automatically detects Graph calendars when creating a new account and adds an unread-mail indicator to the Linux system tray. These are specific changes, not a promise that every workplace account will work without configuration.
If you manage several accounts, try a small task after updating: open a familiar attachment, send a test message and check a calendar event. That can help you spot a difference before relying on it during a meeting.
Before you update
The official help page explains how to check for updates through Help and About Thunderbird. On Linux, if you installed it through your distribution’s package manager, use that route and wait for the corresponding package.
Also check whether you use the regular release channel or ESR, which provides extended support. Do not switch channels simply because a news story mentions a higher number; follow your organization’s process on a work computer.
