Fewer tabs to check by hand

Firefox 159 reached the stable channel on October 27, 2026. Among its changes, Ctrl+Shift+A on Windows and Linux, or Cmd+Shift+A on macOS, opens tab search. The extensions manager moves to Ctrl+Shift+F or Cmd+Shift+E, respectively.

A useful detail when many pages are open

Imagine a workday with a document, several references and a meeting open. Finding the existing tab can be more convenient than checking each tab or opening the same address again. This is a suggested use, not a measured time saving.

Check your version before trying it

The release notes also include a fix for remembering the last folder used when uploading files. Not every change applies to every edition or device: this article concerns desktop Firefox.

If a shortcut behaves unexpectedly, check the installed version and whether the operating system or another application uses it. You do not need to install an extension to check a feature built into the browser. The cover is a generated conceptual illustration, not a Firefox screenshot.
