This time, the stable release
OBS Studio released stable version 33.0.0 on October 23, 2026. Unlike the RC3 candidate previously covered by En Foco, this is the final release of that version.
The less visible change matters
Plugin loading uses a new layout. Legacy locations for third-party plugins remain supported until OBS 34.0. Version 33 also drops Ubuntu 24.04 support. Check both points before updating a production computer.
Rehearse with your actual setup
Do not debut an update minutes before a stream. Keep a copy of your profiles and scenes, then test a short recording using the sources, microphone and plugins you actually rely on. Listen to the file and inspect the picture rather than merely checking that the application opens.
If you depend on a plugin, consult its developer as well. The directory change does not mean every plugin will fail, nor does it guarantee that any given one will work. The cover screenshot shows OBS Portable 30.1.2 as a visual reference, not a demonstration of OBS 33.
